Mushroom Dreams

In yesterday’s post on daydreaming I mentioned wanting to share about my dream from the night if I were to remember it. I don’t remember all of them but it’s early enough in the day that one is still fresh on my mind.

My home was filled with friendly strangers. I had propped open my front door that anyone may enter and come make art with me. In each room was a different crowd of my peers but none of them looked familiar. Rice and quinoa cooked on the stove and I became worried that it wouldn’t be enough to feed everybody. I had enough trust to leave them all alone and headed to the store for more food.

By the time I came home it was a new crowd of people. I recognized one person from high school. We hadn’t seen each other in 8 years but both recognized and remembered who the other was. We greeted each other with smiles and a fist bump. I sat next to him on the floor of my studio to see what he was drawing in his sketchbook. It was a black and white array of mushrooms.

Without asking his permission I began to color them in with orange and green pencils and made the background blue. Then I apologized to him after thinking that it was rude to go ahead and mark up his art without having asked. He was pleased though, at how it was turning out.

Other people were circulating around us and doing their own thing, coming and going through my open door. Everything felt right. I was happy to share my space and they were all happy to share their time.

I’d like to implement and materialize a few things from all this.

I’d like to leave an open invite here to other creatives who might want to collaborate in making mushroom themed art. Please reach out if this is you and let’s see if we can have some fun bringing our styles together.
